Welcome to our team page where you’ll find out more about this team, the Manager and Coaches, together with our coaching ethos.
The first members of the team joined back in 2010, when training with older boys. We formally started training together in Spring 2011 as MJFC Under Six’s. We trained together until officially becoming MJFC U7’s in August 2011 competing in the East Manchester Junior Football League for the 2011-2012 season, culminating in the Primary Cup final win in May 2012 and a great BIG cup!!!!
Every year we continue to grow the teams and are pleased to see the incredible development going on over the last few years and the latest crop of players keep on surprising us!
Keep in touch with this page for all news relating to this year’s Under 10’s and their journey throughout the season.
Meet The Manager & Coaches
Manager: Alan Nadin
Coaches: Christian Leigh, Matthew Cust & Kevin McCluskey
Alan, a Level 1 qualified coach, first came into contact with Mossley Juniors some 4-5 years ago, through bringing his oldest son to play for the team currently our Under 11’s and really liked the coaching and club ethos applied to all players.
Alan’s coaching Bio and ethos: I was greatly encouraged and motivated to coach through my experiences of watching My older son being coached and felt compelled to give something back by teaching children to play, make friends and gain confidence to improve in sport. I felt that the coaching ethos and the feel of the club was exactly fitting that of my own. I am also keen to continue to become a higher qualified coach in order to deliver the best training and possibilities for the boys throughout their football journey.
Christian joined almost 3 years ago as a Duke of Edinburgh candidate at 16 years old. We completed the period required to train and experience and luckily for us Christian stayed on, became a Level 1 qualified coach too and is also looking to continue to gain higher football coaching qualifications, whilst seeing our brilliant squad develop.
Matthew Cust joined as a coach this season, after seeing his son through the previous season and showing great interest and sharing the same ethos. Matt is looking to gain his Level 1 this year and has recently been appointed a club Trustee!
Kevin McCluskey joined as a coach a few months ago as he had shown previous interest, whilst watching his own son Matthew, train with us. Kevin also shares a long history in playing the game, like each coach and is another welcome addition to the coaching team.
Our ethos is that as long as we work hard to provide an environment of positive reinforcement, appropriate training and challenging them to improve, all boys will want to take part, try new skills and eventually gain maximum confidence in themselves. This will enable them to have real control and enjoyment of their own journey throughout football. It is THEIR enjoyment which is THE most important aspect of any grass roots sport.
